ABOUT

YES! WE ARE
THE COURAGE
YOU NEED.

We’re the revolutionaries that challenge the status quo,
always concocting new ways of thinking and changing
the way people experience the world.

A BRAND NEW SECTOR

IMMERSIVE DESIGN

We take existing platforms to the next level by creating a richer user experience. Mashing up the Digital and the Dimensional, we offer a brand new sector: Immersive Design™ – forging engaging experiences that brands and people can interact with.

LET’S DO THIS

FEATURED

Brand, Moments, & Play

We forge brands that leave a dent on the social fabric and moments that create new sensations, while remembering to play. 24/7, we daydream and explore the limitless possibilities.

BRAND

A Sensory Lexicon

We know how difficult it is to sum up the essence
of your passion in words. Don’t worry. We are here to translate your passion into an identity, space, product, and interaction to create a multi sensorial language. Activate your consumers’ 5 senses the way you like it.

MOMENTS

The Best Things Don’t Last.

We create “moments” that forge unique memories.
The kind of memories that you want to relive over and over in our head. Choreographing the five senses, our “moments” immerse visitors in a different universe during its short lived life.

PLAY

We Can’t Help It.

We just like to play. So what?
We embrace it, give it an emphasis, and take it to the next level. Serious Play. It’s time to let our daydreams lead the way.

DREAM TWEET

Interactive Installation

“Dream Tweet” is an interactive installation that creates a collective dreamscape of the crowds’ dreams and nightmares from the night before. Visitors at “Dream Tweet” were asked to share their dreams from the night before via twitter with hash tags to describe the characteristics of the dream.

Projection mapped Tweets poured out into the “Dream Tweet Bedroom” with typefaces unique to their hash tags.

Twitter, a familiar and widely used digital platform, was a perfect choice for extracting the dreams from the crowd. The experience was enabled by our twitter aggregation system that collected and processed the tweets into the installation real-time. “Dream Tweet” gave us a glimpse into what the world of dreams looked like that night before.

PROJECT HOLIDAY PROJECTION

Projection Mapping Installation

Christmas in Southern California never quite fit the quintessential image of the holidays – it’s sunny beaches instead of snow-covered hills and palm trees instead of white dusted pines. Instead of acting out the holiday spirit in traditional ways with spray snow and ice-skating rinks that hardly stay frozen, We gave the people of Santa Ana an experience that they can own.

We replaced candelabra lights with multiple high-powered projectors mapped on the Spurgeon Building located in the heart of downtown Santa Ana. Colorful and playful projections animated in sync with a soundtrack specially mixed by FREE THE ROBOTS. The building the Spurgeon Building was digitized, wrapped in gift wrap, transformed into Santa’s Workshop, and had its “residents” break out into a musical number, every 15 minutes.

Dimensions / 200′ x 40′
Hardware / 410k Panasonic PT-D10000U Projectors, Hippotizer Media Server with

MIDAS

Gesture Based Installation

MIDAS is an interactive light wall in which users’shadows illuminate as though it were gold.
We took shadows out of darkness and brought
them into the spotlight.

Giving a chance for shadows to be recognized,
Midas creates a highly poetic and strangely personal experience for passerbys to renew their connection with their shadow.

The experience is enabled by individual LED
-sensor modules that illuminate when light is absent. The sensors react to both everyday and infrared light, allowing shadows to come alive even in darkness.

Dimensions / 72” x 48”
Materials / 1/8” Yellow Acrylic, MDF
Hardware / 100 White LED’s paired with Photo Resistors, Opposite Infared Light source

ROBOT BOX

Pop-up Container Exhibition

For Little Tokyo Design Week in Los Angeles, California, different design studios were given the task to transform a PODS storage unit into an exhibition that clues into ideas for the “future city” Robot Box was an exhibition of what We Are Matik imagined to be the future relationships between humans and robots.

RAMP

Fashion Event / Performance

We were commissioned to design a runway for illustrator/designer Connie Lim. Her 2010 Spring Collection titled “NOIR” featuring seven looks was inspired by her favorite medium—black gouache. This collection focused on textures and forms sans color and pattern. Black gouache creates interesting lines and blurs as it gets absorbed into paper.

We wanted to create a spatial way of unraveling her designs in a similar fashion—as if her designs were seeping through the walls of the runway. We named this “Ramp” playing off the word that means both “gradient” and “catwalk.” 12,750 feet of white twine were strung together in varied densities to create a gradient that slowly revealed models walking down the runway. At the end of the walk, the models came out in open space where the clothes were fully revealed.

MY TASTE IN MEN

Exhibition

“What happens to your stuff when you die?”

This was the question Onya Hogan-Finlay started with in her study of the collections of the ONE National Gay and Lesbian Archives. Documenting the history of the LGBT community through the records and materials of activists and ordinary citizens, as well as political, social, educational and cultural organizations, the “My Taste in Men” exhibition was a visual envelope of the archive collections- with its

significance heavily on gay men. Prior to this installation, the contents of the Archives were not accessible to the public and rarely exhibited. The exhibition created opportunities for visitors to discover and give life to the intimate and wild stories of the LGBT community that has been tucked away in sterile archival boxes.
